My name is Curtis Gore. I’m 28 years old, married and the father of two beautiful girls. I live in Palatka, Florida, where I’ve lived most of my life except for a few years here and there. Where I grew up was on the St Johns River, one of only two rivers that flow north, so I spent a lot of time swimming and fishing.
I graduated from Palatka High School in 1999. Right after I finished school I married my high school sweet heart and left for basic training. I had joined the Army Reserves to learn to be an X-ray tech. When I returned home I thought I would be able to go to work immediately in a hospital, but since each state has different laws and requirements, I got caught up in a bunch of red tape and needed to take some other classes to be able to work. I had to find a job in the mean time and my brother had recently opened a truck accessory business and took me on as a partner.
I loved customizing vehicles and learned how to tint windows. I also went to Mobile Dynamics in Tempe, Arizona, to get my certification in 12 volt electronics so I could do car audio and security. Things went well for several years until we hit a point where the business began to run us instead of us running the business. Even though the money was good, I didn’t have any benefits and I had no real way of leveraging my efforts. I was still basically trading time for money. So after almost six years my brother and I parted ways. He keep the shop and I moved to Clearwater, Florida, where a friend and I opened another car audio shop. After almost a year of me living down there and my family living in Palatka, the strain on our family’s relationship and the expense of having two residences finally caught up with me and I left behind the world of entrepreneurs.
I got a job working for an old customer of mine. He hired me as an outside sales rep, but as fate would have it, he lost a delivery truck driver and needed me to fill that position. The job came with benefits and lots of overtime so I thought I had it made. I basically spent about eight hours on the road by my self every day hauling plywood and other cabinet making supplies, then another two to three hours each afternoon loading the truck for the next days route. I had pretty consistent hours and only worked Monday-Friday, so I had a lot of free time to pursue other ventures. I worked part time at my brothers shop tinting windows, and did some odd and end things on the weekends.
After about a year and a half of working for someone else, I started to look for a way to get back into business for my self. I guess once your an entrepreneur it’s hard to go back to the rat race. A friend of mine, who was a contractor, approached me with the idea of starting our own business. So in July of 2007 we started a spray foam insulation company. The plan was that I would continue to work at my day job and we would spray at night and on the weekends. Things started off great. We had jobs lined up and things were taking off. Then it happened…
One afternoon I was making a delivery and I fell off the back of my truck. I landed with my right leg out stretched and hyper extended my knee and felt and heard a loud pop! I was barley able to stand and new that something was seriously wrong. I came to find out that I had completely torn my ACL and meniscus, sprained just about every ligament in my knee and crushed part of my femur. Surgery was inevitable and I was going to miss six to eight months of work. On top of that I couldn’t do any of my side work or do anything with the foam business. So I went from working three jobs to being physically incapacitated with almost no income. It was at that point that I realized that I couldn’t count on a job that required me to trade physical work for a pay check, because a sickness or an injury could completely stop my cash flow.
After a few months of searching for a way to make some extra cash from home, I came across a couple of home based businesses that I really liked. Since I had tried a few network marketing opportunities in the past, I was an easy sale. So in February of 2008 I had two businesses and started to market myself online. Those first two businesses failed miserably, as have a few others since then. Finally after nearly a year of failing online, I found a group of successful industry leaders that taught me about Attraction Marketing and automated marketing systems and guided me to where I am today. A full time Internet and Network Marketer.
