Let’s say there are 2 people that are both opening a “Brick and Mortar” business in the same town on the same busy street.  Now one of them doesn’t even put up 1 sign.  No business name, no window displays, no nothing!  Now the guy across the street takes a piece of card board and writes, “I sell this here!” in magic marker on it, and then takes the sign and goes and stands by the side of the road…

The ABC’s of Internet Marketing

Whether your promoting a traditional MLM, a high ticket Direct Sales item or Affiliate/Information products, there are 3 key steps to being successful online…

1. Attract targeted prospects, also known as building a list.

2. Build relationships with those prospects.

3. Convert prospects to sales.

Sounds easy enough, but how do you accomplish these fundamental yet critical tasks?

First things first, you MUST have a good attitude and a positive mindset.  Without these you are almost certain to fail.  Second you will need an email autoresponder and a lead capture (or a squeeze) page to collect your prospects information.  Typically you have to give something of value away for free in trade for your prospects name, email, and often phone number.  Once you have started on your list, you will want to form a relationship with the people on said list.  You do this by using technology to educate and provide value to your prospects, through email newsletters, videos and free training and resources.  You can also form great relationships through the use of Social Web 2.0 sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs.

Once you have bonded with your list and formed some trust with your prospects, the only thing left is to convert those people into sales.  This is accomplished through the use of Automated Marketing Systems and Funded Proposals.  Basically what this means is that you as a “trusted” friend offer your prospects a solution to a problem or a way to save time or automate a tedious activity, via affiliate products.  This provides you with upfront positive cash flow, even on the prospects that do not join your business, that you can use to fund more marketing, or to pay for your monthly autoships, etc.  Then you just rinse and repeat…

Even though this is not a very complicated formula, it can be very time consuming and intimidating, expecialy for someone that is new to this industry, or new to the internet period.  Creating a lead capture page usually involves having you own hosting account, editing HTML to create web pages and autoreponder forms, and FTPing the information to your hosting server.  Not to mention tracking and split testing your landing pages, email messages and your affiliate products to get the highest conversions…
